Cellar Favorite: 2016 Domaine des Comtes Lafon Meursault Clos de la Barre

The 2016 Meursault Clos de la Barre from Domaine des Comtes Lafon is everything white Burgundy should be at this stage of its life. Aromatic, light on its feet and gently softened by the passage of time, the 2016 remains gracious and wonderfully vibrant. Hints of lemon confit, white flowers, candied ginger, marzipan, chamomile and pastry open first, before clean, mineral undertones appear to frame the mid-palate and long, resonating finish. At ten years of age, the 2016 is wonderfully open-knit, showing age-appropriate evolution, along with the freshness and vibrancy to drink well for another decade or so.
